To take the Sustainable Herbs Project to the next level, SHP formed a partnership with the American Botanical Council in the spring of 2018. We are excited for the new opportunities this partnership makes possible. As before, our goal is to create a movement supporting high quality herbal remedies, sustainable and ethical sourcing, and greater transparency.
More specifically, we seek to:
1) Increase industry members awareness of the need for more sustainable practices in the industry overall, so they realize that paying attention to traceability in the supply chain and sustainability overall is not a passing fad, that it is something they need to pay attention to.
2) Share stories about the types of practices that are employed by various companies through the supply chain to inspire companies to institute new practices in their supply chain and in their internal offices, and to give examples of what companies need to do to act on this in a meaningful way.
3) Raise consumer awareness about issues of sustainability in the herb industry overall and educate them about best ways to identify and support best practices.
