We, the undersigned, call for meaningful change in the botanical supply chain. We demand herb companies commit to fair compensation for farmers and wild-harvesters, transparent sourcing practices, and equitable distribution of resources throughout the supply network.

The colonial trading systems that built the global herb industry created inherent inequalities that persist today. While consumers benefit from herbal products, those who grow and harvest medicinal plants typically earn the least in this system, struggling to make a living from their arduous seasonal work.

We urge companies to establish direct long-term relationships with producers, pursue fair trade certifications, and work toward providing a living income that ensures growers can meet basic needs including food, housing, education, and healthcare. We believe that ethical sourcing isn’t just good for communities—it ensures sustainable, high-quality botanicals for generations to come.
